So far, we have already met many potential customers and some designers have already received orders. The fair allows exhibitors to form long term relationship with potential buyers. Despite the global economic uncertainty, I still believe there are abundant business opportunities in gifts market as gift is a necessity and ‘Fashion for All’. Hear What Exhibitors Say
“As Hong Kong is a trading hub in the region, the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair attracts a large number of buyers every year. We are happy to set up the Indonesia Pavilion for the third time at the fair. Last year, our delegates have received total orders worth US$4 million. This year, we have led 16 micro enterprises to display their handmade products such as home decorations, furniture, houseware and fashion accessories in a home setting. International buyers have expressed great interest in Indonesian products. Most of the Indonesian exhibitors received orders on the first day of the fair. For example, a home decoration exhibitor got four orders worth US$45,000. A wooden furniture and homeware manufacturer reaped two orders worth US$21,000. A sarong and shawl manufacturer received an order worth US$5,000. It’s a good start. I expect our delegates will achieve good business results this year.”
Hesti Indah Kresnarini, Coordinator, Exhibition & Foreign Cooperation Division, National Crafts Council of Indonesia, Indonesia

“Eco Concepts produces PLA (poly lactic acid) tableware, mugs, travel cans and non-woven bags which are environmentally friendly, durable and biodegradable. PLA which looks like plastic is made of 100-percent plant starch extract. This is our fifth time participating in the fair. We are glad to see that more and more buyers are looking for eco-friendly products and understand the advantages of PLA products. Our colourful products have gained a lot of attention from many buyers. We collected more than 200 business cards on the first two days of the fair. This year we have met with more buyers from Europe probably because our products can meet their strict requirements in terms of environmental protection. On the first day of the fair, we got an order for travel cans worth US$9,000 from a Thailand buyer. We are happy with the results so far.”
Phoebe Wong, Director, Eco Concepts, Hong Kong

“This is the second time that we have mounted a pavilion at the fair to help manufacturers from Shangyu District to expand into overseas markets and promote their own brands. This year we have a bigger pavilion, with the number of Shangyu exhibitors increasing from 23 to 26 and the number of booths rising from 38 to 44. We are showcasing a wide variety of gifts and premium products such as umbrellas, small electrical appliances, photographic equipment, stationery and handicraft products. Buyers’ responses have been overwhelming. The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair is an internationally renowned fair which provides a gateway for Shangyu manufacturers to enter international markets. We’ll definitely join the fair next year.”
Wu Zhiyu, Vice Head of District, The People’s Government of Shangyu District of Shaoxing City, Chinese mainland

“This is our first time to join the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair. Our company is from Longquan, the ‘Originating Place of Celadon Porcelain’. DongTu celadon porcelain are all produced in Longquan kilns, which are Intangible Cultural Heritage in China. Our products are self-designed, younger yet embed traditional culture and craftsmanship of hundred years. We have mainly three brands, ‘DongTu” represents pragmatism, creating celadon products for daily use; ‘JianZhen’ focuses on artistic design and hi-end products; while ‘PiYun’ produces exquisite souvenirs. So far, we have collected around 30 potential contacts and we will send product information and follow up with them after the fair. For the future market trend, I think ready-to-go gifts are becoming increasingly popular.”
Zhou Yongjin, Designer, Zhejiang Longquan Jianzhen Ceramics Co. Ltd., Chinese mainland

“We are a factory based in Wenzhou of Chinese mainland, specialised in manufacturing reusable shopping bags. One of our highlighted products is shopping cart bags. Each set of shopping cart bags includes a number of bags in different colours, which represent different categories of groceries. Each bag has a see-through net at the bottom that allows users to keep track of shopped items easily. We received many enquiries on this product. This is our second year to exhibit in the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair. We invested more this year for a better location, because we received very good response last year. We have already received an order of around RMB 100,000. So far, we are satisfied with the response this year.”
Jun Huang, Sales Manager, Cangnan Well Bags Co., Ltd, Chinese mainland

Hear What Buyers say

“We are selling promotional items to distributors and multinational companies in Russia and we publish five catalogues every year. I have come here for the first time to look for new items. I am particularly interested in power banks, USBs, plastic bottles, eco-friendly wooden products and writing instruments. I have found five potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland and already bought some samples. I am going to confirm my orders in June because we’ll show our new catalogues to customers in an exhibition to be held in Russia in September. We plan to buy 500-1,000 pieces of power banks and 2,000-3,000 pieces of plastic bottles. I like the Hong Kong fair because it is a good place for me to find new suppliers and see new products, new ideas and new trends.”
Pavel Bukhovtsev, Account Executive, Oasis, Russia

“Hardtofind is an Australian e-tailer selling gifts, houseware and fashion accessories. I am going to create my own brand for leather goods and wooden goods. This is my first-time visit to the Hong Kong fair to look for new suppliers of these products. I have found four potential suppliers for the supply of leather goods, wooden goods, ribbons and packaging. I’ll place orders soon and my initial order quantity will be 500 pieces per item. It’s interesting to come here because I have also found new suppliers who are willing to deliver products directly to consumers in Australia. I expect that I’ll find 5-10 suitable sellers and develop partnership with them. The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair is a good show where I can find nice products and nice designs, and I learn so much from the fair.”
Erica Stewart, CEO, Hardtofind, Australia
